In 2018 I moved back to Rochester, NY, one of the ten cloudiest cities in the country. Upon returning I felt a strong sense of loneliness and isolation due to the lack of sunshine. Although I was cognizant of the problem and its cause, I often felt frustrated by my inability to overcome my depressed moods. To further explore this, I took mundane images and processed them as four-color separations (tutorial here). After bitmapping the CMYK layers I printed each image in four passes through an inkjet printer. While most images were printed in proper registration, others were intentionally misregistered causing more colorful results. Through this process I was questioning the degree to which we can alter our perspective.
